Amazon surprised the retail industry with the launch of its latest bricks-and-mortar offering, Amazon Salon, earlier this year.
The salon promises a technology-enhanced experience, using QR codes to populate a customer’s Amazon basket, Fire tablets for entertainment, and most notably an augmented reality screen to test out different hairstyles.
With technology at the forefront, some may assume that the personal touch of a hair salon would be lost - with some onlookers even asking if the styling was done by robots - but that is not the case.
The salon offers a range of cutting edge treatments alongside Amazon’s range of professional beauty products, and the team of stylists provided by Neville Hair and Beauty Salon owner Elena Lavagni give a best in class experience.
It certainly garners attention from passers-by, and while Amazon has no plans to roll out the concept to other locations, the salon is a success for the retail giant.
