Online fashion retail giant Asos has launched an iPad edition of its monthly magazine.

The magazine, sent to customers in a print format each month and viewable on the retailer’s website, is now available free to anyone via the app store. In both existing formats, the magazine is a mix of style tips, interviews and photos of the products.

Focusing entirely on womenswear, the iPad edition tries to link between the articles and the store. It is a heavily pared-down version of the print product, with a focus on images. The digital version allows users to scroll images, view products from 360˚ and watch video within the app.

On the downside, the first issue, available this month, has no links to social media within the app, which is a shame given that Asos is strong on this elsewhere. The app could also be improved by allowing users to shop within the app rather than directing them to a browser to buy.
