BCSC has responded to feedback with a focused conference that reflects the organisation’s desire to forge deeper links with the public sector, says chief executive Michael Green

Earlier this year we surveyed our own members to ask them what they would like to see at this year’s Conference & Exhibition.

We have responded with a more focused speaker programme that will address some of the key investment and development issues currently facing the industry.

We have also included a number of workshop sessions to provide
guidance on technical issues from sustainability to planning.

I am delighted that we have secured former Cabinet Minister, The Rt Hon Michael Portillo; Roger Bootle, managing director of Capital Economics and Peter Williams, non-executive director of Asos and Cineworld Group, as our headline speakers.
BCSC is always looking to build partnerships and this year we are looking to grow the industry’s links with the public sector.

We will welcome a number of senior central and local government representatives, including Conservative Shadow Minister for Local Government and Planning Bob Neill and Councillor John Shipley OBE, Leader of Newcastle City Council.

The relationship between landlords and retailers remains crucial as ever, and delegates will also hear from Ken Ford, executive director of Capital & Regional and Mark Bowles, property director from HMV Group, on driving retailer performance in what continues to be a difficult economic climate.

The main exhibition will continue to form the focus of industry networking and deal-making, which will be facilitated by the popular Welcome Party on Monday evening, as well as a Happy Hour on the following night from 6pm - don’t miss out.

Finally, don’t miss out on your opportunity to join our organised study tour of the latest developments at the Trafford Centre. I look forward to seeing you there.
