The BT Retail Week Technology Awards shortlist is out, highlighting some of the best retail technology projects of the last year in UK retail. Entries this year were better than ever, with some of our newer categories proving popular – Customer Experience of the Year was particularly difficult to shortlist.

This year’s shortlist proves use of technology in retail in 2013 is better than ever – technology is no longer just about a retailer’s infrastructure, and neither is it just about ecommerce or mobile apps. It has become the strategic glue that binds all these together, and helps a retailer stand out against its competitors. The technology awards this year are set to give a great snapshot of some of the industry’s best innovation.

With technology now reaching every corner of a retail business, it’s firmly on the agenda of many chief executives – which means investment and resources are flowing into IT. The most farsighted retailers are shoring up their technology reserves, and this can be clearly seen at the retailers who have made the cut for the awards this year.

The full shortlist can be seen here and the ceremony will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane on June 19th – join us there to find out who will take the trophies home.
