At a time where many retailers are closing shops, entrepreneur and former Dragon Theo Paphitis is embarking on a store opening programme.
Boux Avenue, his lingerie chain, is set for four new UK openings and this month launches two stores in Bulgaria, in Burgas and Sofia. The Bulgarian debut is another stake in the ground for the lingerie retailer which already has stores in Iceland, Gibraltar and Malta.
In addition, his stationery retailer Ryman has taken on “a few” former Jessops stores, Paphitis revealed when he opened the doors to its new Canary Wharf store.
The store in Cabot Place, also on a former Jessops site, marks a return to the shopping centre for Ryman after 20 years as the shop was “haemorrhagingcash”. Paphitis says the new store is already showing positive results.
Good to see there’s still life in physical stores if you get the format right.
