Very Edit is not a new app, but it’s one that deserves a mention. The app is an editorial endeavour, providing shoppers with fashion magazine-style content in a similar vein to Asos’ print magazine.

The content is good and hits the right aesthetic notes. The presence of celebrities, such as Fearne Cotton, who has a contract with Very, and others including the Kardashians, is heavy and no doubt appeals to the target audience.

The magazine app is colourful and quick to download, and can be browsed easily in a couple of ways. However, an edition does take up a hefty 37MB of storage – this is increasingly an issue for users whose smartphones are full of music, apps and photos.

There are links to the Very site to enable shoppers to buy the bits and pieces on show, but customers are increasingly spoilt for choice when it comes to retail apps. Retailers such as Very and Asos will need to constantly up the ante to keep their place on a shopper’s phone.
