I’ve just taken over as chief executive of BT Expedite, the retail solutions division of BT. We’re behind some of the UK’s fastest-growing and most successful retailers and we’re always on the lookout for new technology that could revolutionise retailing. The Retail Week Technology Awards bring like-minded retailers and suppliers together to celebrate exceptional achievement and success in UK retail technology.

I’m still very much a retailer at heart, having spent many years on the other side of the fence at Tesco, latterly as international store operations and IT director. I think it’s that background that’s made me so determined to create a real partnership with our clients – to be always thinking of what their customers want and how we can work together to achieve that.

New year, new job, new technology blog

I’m passionate about retail and innovative technology, and very much looking forward to contributing, along with my team and Retail Week, to this Technology blog. We’ll be sharing news and views on retail technology leading up to the BT Retail Week Technology Awards in June and continuing throughout the year.

By looking at the latest trends in both retail and technology we can help retailers bring multichannel retailing to life. So it’s not about store or web or POS or the mysterious cloud. It’s about how to get all of these things working together to make life easier for everyone.

It’s been a real roller coaster in recent years and I’m sure 2012 will throw up a few surprises along the way. Through this blog we’ll keep you up to date with everything that we’re doing to help retailers succeed
