In his 10 years in charge of Sainsbury’s Justin King, who this morning signalled his plans to stand down in July, has added more than £500m to the grocer’s underlying profit.
After an initial drop in sales in the first two years of his tenure, King’s turnaround measures bedded in and led to Sainsbury’s sales jumping from £17.1bn to £23.3bn over the past decade.
