The retail weather forecast from Saturday December 21 to Friday December 27, 2019

The week last year

Warm with a few showers early. Plenty of sun from Christmas onwards.

The week this year

Temperatures are expected to be warmer than normal throughout the country. The South East will generally be warmer than last year but the North West will lag last year’s warmth.

Precipitation will also follow regional trends with the South East drier than normal and a touch below last year, while the North West is wetter than both benchmarks.

Warmer conditions will prevail from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day. Rain is expected for most on Christmas Day. So, no White Christmas, but the good news is that there will be no snow to impact holiday travel.

Mindset

Christmas shopping followed by the post-Christmas sales are a bigger driver of sales than the weather this week. While some parts may see wetter conditions, there is nothing to seriously disrupt footfall.
