Perfumery retailer Douglas GmbH has installed digital signage in a store in Mainz to improve the customer shopping experience.
Screens in the store are supported by PRESTIGEenterprise software, provided by Online Software AG. They will show current offers, promotions and trailers depending on their position in the store. A touch screen display window allows customers to find out the most popular scents of the moment for men and women night and day. In addition to individual screens, there are two video walls in the store.
Douglas International GmbH IT Director Jeroen Timmer said: “Thanks to the interactivity, which comes into play with the new media and technology, we are able to offer our customers added value extras. Thus we can further develop the shop ambience and aim for an even more emotive shopping experience.” He added that digital is the language of the retailer’s young target group of customers.
Online Software AG chief executive Jürgen Berens von Rautenfeld said that PRESTIGEenterprise connects with the retailer’s enterprise resource planning system to ensure that important information such as price changes and availability are always up-to-date. He added: “The connection with the SAP-product database thus makes data management easier for Douglas and avoids unnecessary duplication of tasks.”
The scheme is a pilot and will be rolled out across to other branches if the pilot is successful.
