Game has acquired Multiplay as it seeks to diversify its portfolio

  • Multiplay is a 14-year-old UK-based family business that organises live events, online gaming services and esports – an area Game said it has been wanting to enter for some time
  • The business is behind the UK’s largest games festival – Insomnia
  • It was founded by Craig ‘Wizzo’ Fletcher in May 1997
  • Multiplay has more than 50 employees
  • The business runs three Insomnia events a year – one in spring, summer and winter, which take place in Coventry’s Ricoh Arena
  • The most recent Insomnia festival attracted 67,000 visitors, following a record increase in footfall of 60% compared with the previous last year
  • Game and Multiplay already have a relationship, with Game sponsoring and exhibiting at a number of the gaming events
  • More than one million users play on Multiplay’s servers
