Legendary fashion brand Topshop has opened in the famous department store Liberty, restoring a UK bricks-and-mortar presence after a four-year absence.
Topshop and stablemate Topman made their debut in Liberty this week, offering a curated range including everyday essentials and tailoring.
The Topshop area is in Liberty’s atrium and level two, and the brand, which is now owned by Danish retailer Bestseller’s hloding company, Heartland, and Asos, said it “brings a bold new energy to the historic department store”.
The space “has been transformed with an industrial edge, featuring fly-postering installations and stacked speaker walls”.
Topshop Topman managing director Michelle Wilson said: “We’re incredibly proud to see Topshop and Topman return to physical retail in such an iconic setting. Partnering with Liberty is a defining moment for us, marking our return to the forefront of British fashion, and creating the opportunity to reconnect with our customers in a truly inspiring space.”
Topshop is one of the best-known and influential brands in UK retail, but its stores, such as the Oxford Street flagship, closed when parent Arcadia, owned by tycoon Sir Philip Green, collapsed into administration in 2020. Asos subsequently acquired Topshop before selling a majority stake to Bestseller last year.
