The 40,000 sq ft Topshop/Topman that is to open on New York’s Fifth Avenue tomorrow is the fashion retailer’s second-largest branch.
Among other things the four-floor midtown Manhattan store has LED lighting throughout (a first for Topshop), flexible backlit perimeter panels and a large number of personal shoppers.
It is the second Topshop/Topman in Manhattan – the first opened in 2008 in the SoHo district.
Topshop owner Sir Philip Green said: “Every leading fashion retailer would at some time want to trade on this street. We’ve learnt a lot [in the US] in the last four or five years.
“We want to be able to make a statement, but we don’t do vanity projects. This is about making money.”
