Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo has joined forces with the Tate Modern to celebrate the art gallery’s 25th anniversary in the form of a pop-up shop.

The new more than 1,000 sq ft Uniqlo Tate Shop, which is located on the first floor of the Tate Modern, opened at the start of May and will welcome customers over the summer until September 16, 2025.

The pop-up store will offer the fashion brand’s exclusive Tate UTme! T-shirt range as well as a selection of “core” Uniqlo items which can be customised with embroidery in-store.

Uniqlo and the art gallery’s pop-up offers a “summer-long series” of activities with workshops that are available to book online via the Tate’s website for free.

The adult T-shirts on sale are priced at £24.90 with 16 designs for customers to choose from.

Fast Retailing group senior executive officer Koji Yanai said: “We are honoured and proud to strengthen our global partnership with Tate Modern during their 25th birthday celebrations.

“This deep relationship with one of the world’s greatest museums is an expression of the Uniqlo LifeWear philosophy of Art For All. We look forward to welcoming customers into the first Uniqlo Tate Shop, Art For All, where they can experience an in-store arts program alongside our LifeWear products.”

Tate Modern director Karin Hindsbo said: “Tate Modern’s birthday isn’t just a moment to reflect on 25 years at the cutting edge—it’s a chance to keep pushing artistic boundaries and give a platform to the next generation.

“Our birthday weekend will be a truly public celebration of art and creativity to which everyone is invited. We are incredibly grateful to our longstanding partner, Uniqlo, for their support of the Birthday Weekender, reflecting our shared values and belief that art is for everyone.”
