Marks & Spencer has promoted an internal executive to the newly-created role of design director for womenswear, lingerie and beauty.
Queralt Ferrer, who joined M&S from Inditex-owned fashion retailer Massimo Dutti in 2013, has taken up the post and will report to new general merchandise boss Steve Rowe.
Rowe has been charged with transforming M&S’s ailing fashion division after taking over from company lifer John Dixon who quit the retailer in July.
M&S said Ferrer’s appointment is in line with its strategy to improve “product style” and it is a move to “align accountability for the product areas designed for our female customers”.
Ferrer was originally hired by M&S boss Marc Bolland to head up design on its Autograph and Limited Edition ranges.
Her promotion came after Jo Jenkins was made director of womenswear, beauty and lingerie.
