Global fashion retailer Uniqlo has opened its doors to a new London-based store as it continues to ramp up its store expansion strategy.
The new store, which opened on September 19, is located in shopping and dining hotspot Coal Drops Yard at King’s Cross and spans an “iconic location with a rich cultural heritage”.
The store spans around 8,600 sq ft and will offer a range of womenswear and menswear across three floors.
Uniqlo’s repair and recycle initiative RE.Uniqlo Studio will be housed on the second floor where customers can utilise services including exclusive Eki stamps being added to garments, which is a unique offering for the Coal Drops Yard store.
The store will also house a mural in partnership with London Mural Festival 2024 and British artist Pref.
The fashion giant is also partnering with East Japan Railway Company to offer a range of products through vending machines, which have become an “integral part” of Japanese culture.
Customers will be able to shop a limited range of childrenswear from the vending machines on the second floor of the store.
With an eye to local partners, Uniqlo has also joined forces with Shōtengai Market in Coal Drops Yard, which showcases pan-Asian businesses every month.
Market stalls selling Japanese-inspired baked goods will be located on the second floor terrace of Uniqlo’s new store and customers who have made a purchase will be eligible for a discount.
Uniqlo chief operating officer Alessandro Dudech said: “We are thrilled to be continuing our UK expansion with these two new store openings in autumn/winter 2024.
”We are excited to be able to offer LifeWear to the local communities of people who live and work in the buzzing Coal Drops Yard and Kings Cross area and look forward to welcoming back customers to the renovated White City store in October.”
Uniqlo’s Coal Drops Yard opening comes alongside the news of its reopening in Westfield shopping centre, White City, next month.
