Following a post advertising jobs at the store, the online giant confirmed its plans on Monday to CNET following speculation in The Wall Street Journal in March.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “Amazon is opening a grocery store in Woodland Hills [a neighbourhood in Los Angeles] in 2020.”
The retail giant said the store will not feature its Amazon Go technology, which allows customers to pay for goods without waiting at a till point, and will focus on a more conventional set-up found in typical supermarkets.
