Etailer British Corner Shop has unveiled a tie-up with Waitrose to sell the grocer’s goods overseas. Retail Week takes a look at the online business.
• British Corner Shop launched in 1999, with the aim of sending British products to ex-pats across the globe.
• It is headquartered in Bristol, where it packs and dispatches all of its orders.
• The website sells more than 10,000 SKUs, including goods produced by a number of proprietary brands including Cadbury, Heinz, Kellogg’s and McVitie’s.
• Users can also make direct requests for new lines to be launched, through its online ‘product suggestion’ tool.
• Last year, the company sent more than four million products to ex-pats living in 138 countries worldwide.
• British Corner Shop’s website boasts that it will “deliver to your door, anywhere in the world”.
• British Corner Shop customers can order as little or as many products as they like, up to a maximum weight of 30kg.
• Orders are delivered to most European destinations within four to eight working days.
• Deliveries to non-European countries take between seven and 12 working days.
• Delivery charges range from free, for orders over £29 being shipped to England, Wales and Scotland, to £32.99 for a 30kg box being sent to shoppers in the US and Canada.
• Customers in mainland Europe pay between £5.99 and £20.99 for delivery of a 30kg box.
