The Hertfordshire county town plays host to the latest store thinking from Tesco, pointing the way for future refurbishments and store interiors.

Along with Tooley Street in London, the superstore in Hertford is one of the trial stores that will provide the template for the refurbishment of Tesco’s UK estate.

The major features are the tone of voice, designed to be more customer-friendly and the use of wood-style cladding across the store, aimed at creating a warmer feel for the interior.

Outside, ‘lollipop’ men direct shoppers to available parking spaces when they arrive at the store, making the experience generally less stressful.
