The advert was directed by Oscar-winner Tom Hooper and focuses on the magic and joy of Christmas through making wishes and sharing Lidl’s food with the family.

While a family is making wishes of biscuits and gingerbread men around the Christmas table, one girl wishes to share her present with a young, cold boy she saw playing in the snow at the start of the advert.

Once she wishes to share her present, a Lidl-branded wooly hat arrives on the boy’s lap, ensuring he can now play outside without being too cold.

To coincide with the theme of a “magical Christmas at Lidl”, the supermarket has brought back its toy bank scheme with a goal of donating over 100,000 toys to more children than ever before.

The nationwide donation drive sees new and unopened toys sent out to children locally who may not have received a gift at Christmas.

The advert will make its debut on ITV1 and across social channels on November 3 at 7.15pm and the toy bank scheme will run in stores nationwide until December 16.
