Sainsbury’s has launched what is called “the biggest ever Aldi Price Match in the market”, expanding the scheme to “make the start of summer more affordable”.

The grocery giant said it was “significantly boosting its commitment to value” by expanding both its Aldi Price Match and its everyday essentials prices as the weather begins to warm up in the run-up to summer.

Sainsbury’s is adding over 100 new products to its Aldi Price Match across fridge and cupboard fillers and household products, as well as “picnic favourites” such as dips and quiche.

The grocer is also expanding its ranges across bacon, sausages, feta and pet food, a “wider range” of quiche, sausage rolls and pork pies, as well as expanding the variety of red, white, and sparkling wines including champagne, cava and prosecco.

With the expansion, Sainsbury’s Aldi Price Match now covers over 800 products, while low everyday prices cover over 1,000 branded products and Nectar Prices covers over 9,000 products.

Richard Crampton, Sainsbury’s commercial director—fresh and convenience said: “With household costs going up, we’re working tirelessly to keep prices low for customers when doing their big shop at Sainsbury’s.

“With the biggest ever Aldi Price Match, we’re introducing hot weather favourites such as dips, ice cubes and fizz as well as family staples such as shower gel, cotton wool and period care, ensuring shoppers’ budgets can go even further this summer.”
