Department store group Fenwick has opened the doors to what it claims to be “the largest UK beauty hall outside London”.

The new beauty hall opened today at Fenwick’s flagship store in Newcastle upon Tyne. Measuring 26,000 sq ft it is designed to enhance the customer experience and includes two new enlarged atriums, 56ft of facade windows overlooking the city’s Northumberland Street and a 50ft-long fragrance bar.

Altogether the beauty hall carries 163 brands and 23 new beauty counters. Services provided include manicures, blow-drys, brow shaping, lash extensions, facials and makeup appointments, and there are five beauty treatment rooms.

Fenwick director of buying and merchandising Hazel Ayers said: “We are proud to unveil the transformation of our Fenwick Newcastle beauty hall, making it the UK’s largest beauty hall outside of London.

“This has been three years in the making with absolute dedication to detail, working with brilliant beauty brand partners and my talented team. The reimagined beauty hall demonstrates the continual evolution of the Fenwick in-store customer experience offering an unrivalled edit, innovative new products and brands, and expert beauty services.”

Beauty is a competitive category in Newcastle and the surrounding North East. Global beauty giant Sephora has recently opened in Newcastle’s Eldon Square and Gateshead’s Metrocentre, where Harrods also has an H Beauty store.
