Ikea has opened its first stand-alone London restaurant.

The Ikea Restaurant, which is open now, will serve a range of the retailer’s classic dishes commonly found inside its in-store restaurants.

The new stand-alone eatery has two floors and is located next door to its freshly revamped Ikea Hammersmith City Store.

The space was once a Wasabi restaurant and has been refurbished to serve Swedish fare to up to 75 dine-in customers at a time.

Diners will be able to sit down with a small cooked breakfast for £2.75, eight meatballs with mash and peas for £5.50 or penne pasta in tomato sauce for £2.95.

The restaurant is also equipped for takeaway orders, and shoppers can order from interactive screens while inside.

“We know how much our customers love the Ikea restaurant and we’re excited to celebrate the opening of our very first high street restaurant,” said Ikea London City market manager Matthew Gould.

“Fans of our delicious dishes can recharge during their shopping trip with our famous Swedish meatballs, pop in for a traditional Swedish ‘fika’ break for coffee and a sweet treat, or find an affordable meal for the kids right on the high street.”
