The Cotswold Co has converted a former bank into its latest showroom in Knutsford.
The new store is the home and furniture retailer’s first location in the North West, located in a Grade II-listed Union Bank building at 127 King Street.
The former site of a Barclays Bank, Cotswold said it had “completely transformed” the unit, which has been vacant and derelict for several years, “enhancing the local high street while preserving Knutsford’s architectural heritage”.
The retailer preserved the original features of the building, including the fireplaces, while adding decorative walls and “homely room-sets” to create an immersive retail space.
The launch of the Knutsford showroom follows a period of continued growth for The Cotswold Company. In January, the Group marked its biggest month for orders ever, with £11m in sales and a record-breaking trading day exceeding £700,000 in orders.
Cotswold Company chief executive Ralph Tucker said: “We took the restoration process incredibly seriously and we’re proud to have created a space that reflects both the history and character of the local area as well as the quality craftmanship of our products.
“We are grateful for the support from local planning and the Knutsford retail community that has not only helped us add a new showroom in a strategically important location, but also given a new lease of life to the high street, which has resulted in strong footfall and local demand.
“As we expand our UK retail footprint and realise our ambition to become one of the UK’s leading premium furniture and homeware brands, exploring similar opportunities to revitalise characterful and charming sites that need a bit of affection will be an important area for us.”
