Wickes unveiled a ‘new look’ DIY shed earlier this month in Crawley, complete with a host of new features. Retail Week takes a look around.

As part of Wickes’ strategy to refresh and expand its store portfolio, the Travis Perkins-owned retailer has opened a new superstore measuring 32,000 sq ft in Crawley.

The ‘new look’ store holds around 10,000 SKUs, including Wickes’ paint mixing, flooring and tiling, plumbing and electrical, building, timber, doors, insulation and roofing, and power tool ranges.

The Crawley store, which has 25 members of staff, also showcases the retailer’s made-to-order kitchen and bathroom lines, along with a free design service, and has a dedicated garden centre.

The retailer said the store has been laid out to make it easier to shop for home improvement projects, with inspirational room sets and design consultants on hand to help.

A spokesman for the retailer noted: “We’re confident that the new store will provide everyone with the tools, materials and advice they need to complete their project, from those embarking on their first DIY project right through to experienced tradesmen.”

Wickes currently operates 235 UK stores and a website, and offers a same day delivery service with one-hour windows as well as one-hour click-and-collect.
