Williams, who will leave his role on November 29 but stay on as an advisor until the end of May 2020, is being replaced by chief financial officer, Rob Parker.

Williams has spent 19 years at Topps, becoming property director in 2000. He was named chief operating officer in 2004, before taking on the top job three years later.

In his time as boss, Williams has successfully rebranded the retailer and spearheaded investment into its commercial division, including the acquisitions of Parkside Tiles in 2017 and Strata earlier this year.

Williams said he was leaving the business in order to “pursue a new challenge”.
