Pandora is to hit the expansion trail in London as it opens the doors to its largest global store on Oxford Street.
Pandora president Western Europe Peter Andersen said: “We will continue to grow in the UK. There are plans to grow especially in London and Scotland. We think that there’s room for quite a lot of stores in London.”
The retailer officially opened its eleventh store in Greater London at Park House, Marble Arch today with chief executive and former Asda boss Allan Leighton cutting the ribbon. The store has been trading since last Friday.
The 2,153 sq ft, two floor shop is the largest of its 900 global stores.
It has been designed by Grapes Associates, which works with luxury brands such as The Dorchester, and features spotlights and ornate picture frames. The store design is described as “fresh yet Scandinavian” by the retailer.
The first floor of the store will be used for entertaining and features a bar, which will be used for VIP events, press gatherings and celebrity appointments.
Andersen said he hoped to open up the first floor over the busy Christmas period and arm staff with iPads and mobile EPoS systems to take sales in a manner similar to the Apple store.
The UK is a key country for the Danish jewellery brand, which is led by former Asda boss Allan Leighton. It has over 100 stores in the UK, which accounts for 10% of Pandora’s global sales.
Like-for-like sales jumped 10% in the UK in its last quarter, according to Leighton.
