Homeware and accessories retailer Tiger has today opened its first West End store on homewares mecca Tottenham Court Road.

The opening brings Tiger’s store count to 21. All of its stores are located in London and the South East.

The Danish chain said it is expanding rapidly. It has already opened two stores this year in the O2 Centre, Finchley Road and Whiteley Village in Hampshire.

The expansion comes as the retailer revealed strong half year sales figures.

Like-for-likes were up 7% in the first half of 2013. Gross turnover surged 58%. Tiger said its EBITDA was up “by an even higher percentage” but Tiger did not disclose the actual number.

Tiger UK managing director Philip Bier said: “We are satisfied with these results and anticipate that trading figures for the second half of 2013 will be equally positive.

“Tiger will be continuing to expand in the year ahead, with new stores opening in affluent and fashionable high streets and shopping centres throughout London and the Southeast.”
