Our deputy news editor Luke Tugby and video journalist Roland Bodenham are two of just 12 media representatives from outside the US to be invited to the retail extravaganza as we follow Asda’s involvement across the week – and the first of our daily video blogs sets the scene for our stay in the States.

Day one included a visit to Walmart founder Sam Walton’s first ever store and a look around the Walmart museum, Walton’s 5&10, before being rounded off by a concert at the Bud Walton Arena, featuring performances from Daughtry and 3 Doors Down.

After Wednesday’s welcome, Walmart is hosting a series of distribution centre and store tours throughout today, ahead of Friday’s main event – the US retail giant’s famous AGM.
