Matalan upgrades warehouse system in e-commerce drive

Matalan is pushing its expansion into e-commerce by upgrading its warehouse management system.

The upgrade of the system, provided by technology supplier Manhattan Associates, is across the retailer’s three UK distribution centres in Skelmersdale, Knowsley and Corby.

It includes increasing the number of reporting interfaces between Matalan’s reporting system and warehouse management system, translating more inventory data from stores and online between the two. This allows Matalan to extract more data from the warehouse management system, improving visibility in the supply chain.

More users also have access to the data in order to improve supply chain decisions and optimise performance.

Matalan IT and logistics director Pete Trainer said: “The level of organisation and detail we now have on stock stand us in good stead for further expansion into e-commerce as well, where Manhattan will be able to help us cost effectively manage order volume increases.”
