Primark to move onto Oxford Street

Value clothing retailer Primark is to open its first central London store on Oxford Street. The discount fashion store has leased a 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m) site on the site formerly occupied by Allders.

The chain, which has grown to 122 stores after a period of rapid expansion, will compete against rivals TopShop and H&M.

The store is due to open early 2007. Primark declined to comment.
