Vincenzo Annunziata, Creative technologist at Carat, shares his view of good and bad sites.

Good site: Fab.com

Fab

Fab

Fab is a social commerce platform dedicated to beautiful design, from vintage furniture to commercial art and fashion items. The website look and feel is as compelling as the products featured, all individually picked from the people behind the business. The secret of its success is not only strictly related to the quality of its products and the discounted prices - what makes me want to visit Fab on a daily basis is the way I can browse products with ease, enjoy a well thought-out user experience and benefit from all the social features that make the website personal to me. The site was also developed with a mobile consumer in mind.

Bad site: Dutchbydesign.com

Dutch by design

Dutch by design

Dutch by Design This is a very similar site to Fab, providing users with a wide range of designer products for a fraction of their original price.

As with any design shop, you would expect the website to be as pleasing to the eye as the product sold. Unfortunately, when browsing Dutch By Design I felt the urge to want to leave the site instantly. That was not only due to the cluttered look and feel and a ‘broken’ user experience, but also because some of the features did not work correctly and the products were featured like non-valuable Sale items. With Fab I feel like I’m buying something beautiful and bagging a bargain.
