JD Sports has launched a multistorey flagship store on New York’s iconic Times Square in a bid to drive the retailer’s reputation stateside.
JD Sports latest flagship spans 18,000 sq ft across two floors and is, according to a note from Peel Hunt, the most expensive store the sportswear retailer has ever built.
The store has been developed by the retailer for 18 months and unveiled this month after the opening date was delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The split of products throughout the stores is 60% clothing and 40% footwear, with sought-after third-party brands such as Nike and Adidas featuring prominently throughout the store on features including an Air Jordans sneaker wall.
The ground floor of the store is dedicated to footwear, while the upper floor is dedicated to kids footwear and clothing.
The store has a host of features to drive the shopping experience including a DJ booth above the entrance of the shop as a permanent fixture, as well as a sneaker conveyor belt on the ground floor where shoppers can collect their online orders.
