Footasylum has opened the doors to its new store in Lakeside Shopping Centre, Essex, showcasing a “first-of-its-kind concept development” for the retailer.
The new 10,000 sq ft store has an “improved look and feel”, reflecting Footasylum’s recent investment into its digital capabilities.
Chief executive and executive chair Barry Bown said the store is the retailer’s “most technologically advanced store yet” and offers customers a connected omnichannel shopping experience.
Footasylum called the new store a “prominent premises”, with a focus on creating a “seamless mobile-first customer journey” for its shoppers.
The fashion and footwear retailer told Retail Week the new store will be led by its menswear and footwear offering, but it also has a dedicated space that “prominently” features its womenswear collections.
Footasylum reported in April that it had seen “a notable increase in demand for womenswear” after confirming plans to expand its presence in the UK throughout the year.
The Essex-based store also features click-and-collect lockers as part of the new layout – a result of a successful click-and-collect trial in some smaller stores earlier this year.
Bown said: “We are on a mission to develop bigger and better stores in order to bring an even more immersive shopping experience to our loyal and growing customer base.
“Our new Lakeside store certainly delivers on that and, as our most technologically advanced store yet, it will seamlessly connect our online and in-store offerings.
“This opening is just the latest development in our ongoing expansion programme, which will soon see our flagship Oxford Street store open to the public.
“Demand for fashion streetwear is strong and our expansion plans will help ensure that our extensive product offering has an even greater prominence across the UK.”
