Specialist retailer Fopp, which is owned by HMV, opened a new store in Nottingham today (June 7), marking its sixth in the UK.

The 2,024 sq ft store is located on Nottingham’s Bridlesmith Gate and showcases more than 18,000 products from vinyl records and Blu-rays to two-for-£7 books, technology and CDs.

In addition to selling products, Fopp said it will arrange in-store signings and performances from artists.

The retailer already has shops in Manchester, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Glasgow and London, but it is not yet known if the Nottingham store is part of a wider expansion drive.

The new store follows Fopp owner HMV’s reopening of its iconic Oxford Street store at the end of last year, as well as a new HMV store in Brussels in April.

Fopp and HMV managing director Phil Halliday said: “As a business, Fopp has an extremely loyal, knowledgeable customer base, as well as staff who are deeply passionate about the worlds of music, film, literature and TV.

“We’re delighted to be bringing our offering to Nottingham, where we can cater to an even wider range of eclectic and specialist tastes.”

HMV and Fopp regional manager Chris Taylor added: “We’re over the moon to be bringing Fopp to the city of Nottingham, offering a huge selection of specialist music, film, TV and books that cater to all tastes.”
