Asda’s first standalone George concept store has opened its doors at Crown Point Retail Park in Leeds.
The retailer said the new store “aims to deliver a fresh, fashion-forward shopping experience focused on the George clothing, home and general merchandise ranges,” in what it calls a “standalone, modern retail space”.
The new store opening was highlighted by the launch of George’s new spring/summer 2025 collection, and children’s ranges from Erica Davies and Billie Faiers, as well as Stacey Solomon’s latest collection.
Asda said that sales on the opening day of the standalone store “doubled [those] of a usual Saturday” and that “customers and colleagues are extremely excited about the store”.
Alongside the new clothing and home offering, the new standalone store also features Asda’s latest kitchen concept eatery, which features “an upgraded menu of hot and cold favourites, including a new fresh pizza offering”.
The retailer also said that the “customer experience has been enhanced, with streamlined checkouts, new self-serve options, and a hassle-free click-and-collect service”.
Asda marked the opening of the store last Saturday with a £2,000 donation to Women’s Aid Leeds, and welcomed Women’s Aid patron and former Spice Girl Mel B.
George chief commercial officer – non-food and retail, Liz Evans said: “This new concept store represents an exciting step forward for the George brand and we’re incredibly proud to launch it in Leeds first, the home of Asda.
“We’re confident customers will love the expanded collections, inspiring collaborations, and convenient shopping experience the store offers. We were also thrilled to welcome Mel B, a true Leeds icon, to help us celebrate the opening, and equally proud to support Leeds Women’s Aid and the vital work it does to support women and families in the city.”
