A little New York deli flavour can be found in the Republic of Ireland, thanks to the capital’s four Fresh The Good Food Markets

There’s something about the New York deli experience that is immediately easily identified – and which is rarely replicated outside the Big Apple. Travel to Dublin, however, and there is a store that comes pretty close to it in the shape of Fresh The Good Food Market.

There are, in fact, four of these stores and they’re all in the Irish capital. The two here are on Camden Street and Smithfield Square. From the moment an approach is made, the bold logo and double-height glass frontage of the Smithfield branch speaks of the kind of thing New York’s Dean & DeLuca would be pleased to welcome into the fold.

Within the former of these stores, the Market Street area might be more reminiscent of the efforts of a supermarket on this side of the water. However, both the graphics and the equipment are still more likely to remind shoppers of a deli.

When coupled with the black-painted brick of the fresh food counter, this is the kind of back-to-the-street approach so many are currently trying to emulate.
