Liverpool-based satchel manufacturer The Leather Satchel Co. has opened its first standalone store, in the city’s historic Albert Dock.
The store is a pop-up and will trade through the winter months, with plans in place for things to become permanent if the level of trade warrants it.

The shop, in the Grade I-listed Britannia Pavilion offers – as might be expected – leather satchels and accessories, but it also offers a personalisation service where shoppers can have their purchases monogrammed while they wait.
The monogram service takes around 10 minutes and can be realised in gold or silver leaf, pressed leather or Indian ink.
More importantly perhaps, is the way in which store and product blend, in terms of design, as both are about heritage.
Practically, this means that much has been made of the interior’s brick walls.
The brown cardboard boxes in which the satchels are sold have an outline of a satchel printed on their front, allowing them to be used as 3D wallpaper around the perimeter.
The mid-shop uses wooden trestle tables – again, on brand for the product that is being sold.
The store is part of a more general move to improve this UNESCO World Heritage waterfront location.
