The benefits of cloud computing

UK department store chain House of Fraser embarked on what it called “pioneering” changes to put customers at the heart of the business last year, while rival John Lewis created a new role of group productivity director, to adapt to what boss Sir Charlie Mayfield dubbed the “rapid rate of change in retail”.

Evolving business structures and new job functions are all well and good, but unless new digital teams working alongside those in roles such as chief customer officer are equipped with the right tools to action digital – such as cloud computing – top to bottom digital change will likely be slow and cumbersome.
