Former Gucci designer to open first outlet in NYC
Former Gucci designer Tom Ford is preparing an assault on the international fashion scene with plans to open stores from the US to the Far East.

Ford hopes to open stores in London, Milan, Los Angeles and Tokyo over the next four years after he opens his first store in New York this November.

The Texan designer has confirmed the shops will sell his new collection of menswear, featuring dress shirts, footwear and leather goods. It will be a mix between Savile Row tailoring and Italian luxury clothing.

Ford, who made his name designing women's ready-to-wear at Gucci with Domenico De Sole, also signed a deal yesterday to produce a line for Zegna Group, showcasing his Tom Ford menswear and accessory collection.

The venture, of which De Sole is chairman, has already agreed to work with Estée Lauder to produce a makeup and perfume line called Amber Nude.
