Urban Outfitters opens a store in the newly developed Park House at the West End of Oxford Street this morning.

The two-floor, 13,500 sq ft store has the bulk of its selling area in the basement and for this reason the retailer has cut a 1,000 sq ft hole in the ground floor to allow shoppers to stare down at what is on offer in the lower level.

Originally scheduled to open in November, the store was hit by problems with the landlord and the opening date was then delayed so that it would not open at the low trading watermark at the beginning of January. The store brings to two the number of Urban Outfitters on Oxford Street – there is another branch at Oxford Circus.
