The inside view from operations director John Clayton

What makes your ideal employee?

Enthusiasm and a love of music and film, coupled with friendliness.

What sets apart working at Richer Sounds from your competitors?

Our colleagues are some of the most experienced in the industry. Staff turnover is a fraction of the norm because we train our staff well, give them the independence to assist customers directly and reward them with a variety of innovative benefits.

How do you strive to retain your staff?

Colleagues are encouraged to send in their suggestions and these are rewarded accordingly, which gives them a vested interest in improving their working environment.

How do you ensure your employees have a good work/life balance?

We only allow colleagues to work overtime when it is absolutely unavoidable and, when they do, we insist they take commensurate time off to compensate.
