The Global Retail E-mpire study, produced by Google and OC&C, found that Asos and Net-a-Porter were among the etailers fuelling the UK’s popularity overseas.

The US and Germany also draw significant overseas trade with £110m and £12m traded abroad last year respectively.

The report predicts that online trade between the UK, the US, Germany, the Nordics, the Netherlands and France will grow fivefold in the next seven years, from £15bn in 2013 to £79bn in 2020, as the retail sector becomes increasingly global and interconnected.
