Luxury department store Selfridges has opened its “first festive destination of 2023” in the form of a new Christmas shop at its London Oxford Street branch, offering “the best services and solutions” for the festive season.

The new 4,000 sq ft space, which opened three weeks earlier than it did last year, sits on the ground floor of the department store and offers a range of decorations, cards, wrapping paper, crackers, stocking fillers, lights and trees.

Selfridges said its Christmas shop this year offers more decorations than ever before – equivalent to a 12% increase on last year – with 1,300 ornaments available, including both traditional baubles and other decorations.

The department store added that 60% of its decorations range is exclusive to Selfridges and cannot be found elsewhere in the UK.

The main themes across the store include Gen Z favourites, items made in the UK, food-inspired decorations, decorations celebrating diversity and sustainably made products.

Customers can also head to the dedicated personalisation desk to add a personal touch to items including Santa sacks, crackers, stockings and baubles with customised names for gifting.

Customer searches for Christmas products online at Selfridges have reportedly increased, with searches for decorations and advent calendars up 24% year on year.

Selfridges said the earlier opening this year will allow customers to “get ahead and make preparations” in advance of the festive period.
